Overview

The "Mafatif Rayan" Project was launched to provide food security for families and households during the holy month of Ramadan. It forms part of charity and Zakat programs.  

The project has become even more essential this year in light of the difficult economic conditions and cost of living crisis Lebanon is facing, which have made it almost impossible for families to secure essential goods.

The 5 included themes

Cooked meals

A hot meal will be delivered to beneficiaries to feed the entire family. The meal will include one main dish, appetizers, yoghurt, and dessert.

Food portions

Parcels containing food provisions that can last a household approximately 20 days are distributed twice, before and during Ramadan.

Iftar for orphans with a gift

This is done by organizing several iftars inside the association’s centers or in the orphanage. Orphans will enjoy several educational and entertaining activities before they sit down to their iftar.

Eid clothes for children

Eid clothes are distributed to the children of the beneficiaries under the age of twelve before the Eid through a clothing exhibition that is held in the centers in Beirut and Qalamoun. Children can choose with their mothers the clothes that suit them.

Food for all

It is a hot meal of rice with meat and vegetables provided to needy families and passersby, according to the number of family members.

Key figures

• This year’s budget for the project is $500,000.

• Approximately 500 meals a day will be distributed daily to beneficiary homes.

• Over 4,000 orphans will be invited to Iftar meals accompanied by educational and entertaining activities. Each child will also receive a gift.

• Eid clothes will be distributed to more than 1,500 children before Eid.
